“Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in this, the ones who accept you for who you are, the ones who would do anything to see you smile; who love you no matter what! Thank you ALL for being my family when I need one the most.”   – Darina O’Harran

Big Josh’s Story

Joshua began working in the Service Industry when he was 20 years old. It became his career and not a life-style. He spent 20 years working long hours as a bar back, doorman, security guard, bartender and General Manager. He greeted everyone with style, grace and a charm that every owner would be proud to have represent their establishment. One day, he had a pain in his eye that brought him to his knees as he was finishing his General Manager duties for the day. He thought, “Damned headaches and exhaustion…” He went to the Emergency Room and hours later was checked into Oncology.

Terminal Stage 4 Non-Smoking Lung Cancer…not just a headache and exhaustion…was he prepared…who is prepared for this at age 40? Life Changed.

Josh is Patient Zero in the future of Big Josh Foundation. He is fighting for his life and needs support to offset the loss of income and inability to work during this battle with Cancer.

The goal of the Big Josh Foundation is to help those people that work within service industries and jobs that do not have the same infrastructure of big corporations. To support the “family” that exists within the Service Industry because when you are part of The Industry you are part of a FAMILY!

WHAT I HAD

A healthy body, diet, and lifestyle. A great job that allowed my to live life to its fullest. I was financially secure and able to pay all my bills and live comfortably, supporting me and my wife and able to pay all my bills and also to enjoy life a little bit due to a secure financial situation i created. I was very blessed and humbled to be able to do so. I worked hard for what I had, and enjoyed that when at all possible with my wife, family, and friends.

WHAT I HAVE

A life-threatening disease that does not allow me to work to support my family. I have gone from living comfortably financially and pain free physically, to being in a dangerous financial bind and in pain from this disease. I’m not able to work, and I am on state disability only, which is over 70% less money I have to support my family and pay my now accruing medical expenses, household expenses, rent, utilities, and of course food expenses. I’m in a terrible financial bind caused by this disease.
